*still not the highest-scoring game between the Bruisers and Cadets, but closer than last year!

For the first game of the season, we looked surprisingly good in the beginning of the game... then, in closer-to-true Bruiser style, we reverted to the Bruisers of normal life and things kind of collapsed with us giving back all the runs we'd scored earlier, and then some. The Cadets, rumored to be hurting for people before the game, showed up with a whole buncha folks, some of whom appeared to be from "other" leagues, and a couple who seemed unfamiliar with the differences between C League and competitive leagues. Both teams had about an equal number of good, bad and ugly plays, which actually made it pretty exciting. One thing to remember... ties go to the runner. We only got five innings (okay, 4.5) in because a couple of the innings took a reeeaalllly long time to play.

Defensive highlights include BobG(SS) earning the title of "Golden Gloves Gallagher" for his awesome snag of a sharp line drive and throw to Ron(1B) in the second inning, a good tracking catch by Earl(LF) in the third inning, and Andrew's great recovery of a ball that popped out of his glove to make an out in the fourth inning.

Offensive highlights include having 15 batters come to the plate in the second inning. BobG hit both home runs of the game, and triples were hit by Earl and Steven. RBIs were earned by Nancy, Eric, Andrew (2), Dave, Ann, Ron (4), Leo (2), Earl (2), Shaunna, BobG (2), Anders (2), and Steven.

Our next game is Tuesday April 27 against the Paper Tigers on field H3 (same as last night). So far I know we'll be missing KarenC, Linda, ScottE, BobbyJoe and Amy. Everyone should be sure to respond to the game reminder on Monday. Nancy will take care of the lineups.

Have a great week!
Karen :)
