Correction: I missed counting Rob's triple in the first inning (and it was an RBI triple, too!).

*Possible scoring discrepancy due to inattentiveness on the part of the Homer scorekeeper, also resulting in mercy being called three runs late.

Tonight marked the offical debuts for Randy Bartos, Eric Gama, Jesse Redding! And welcome back Juan! Thanks to: Ellie for helping out our estrogen deficiency, Mary Beth for faxing in a waiver for Ellie, and Shaunna for being willing to stand in the field even though her doctor told her not to play because it looked like we would be short women coming into the game.

It seemed to take the Homers longer than usual to get the Bruisers into mercy and double mercy (but that was probably because the first mercy was called only after Nancy asked about the score, while the Homers scorekeeper was busy yakking rather than watching the differential), but we ended the game only in single mercy. ScottM (aka "the Liar", who was supposed to be "injured" and not playing) tagged out KarenC as she ran home in the sixth inning.

Bruiser defense got in a fair amount of fielding practice, as is the usual case with our first game of the season. EricG(SS) made excellent throws to Ron(1B) to get runners in the second and fourth innings. Jesse(3B) made a good catch in the fifth inning. RandyB(OF) made a couple of great catches in the outfield second and fourth innings. KarenC(2B) got off a good throw to Ron(1B) to get the runner in the fourth (fifth?) inning, and then narrowly avoided being hipchecked into Glendale by Homer Rich as she fielded a ball while he ran to (and then past) second.

There were no Bruiser home runs, or triples. We had to juggle the women through the batting order due to lack of women (which should never happen with TEN women on our roster!) RBIs were knocked in by Rob, EricB, KarenT, Jesse, and Earl. At least this game is overwith and we won't have to see the Homers again.

Next game is MONDAY APRIL 25 against the Eclectic Eccentrics on field H7. Everyone please be sure to let me know if you're coming or not.

Have a good weekend!

Karen :)
