April 24, 1997 vs. Homers

Who came (more or less in order of arrival): Mark B, Karen, Jessica, John, Jenn O, Andy, Dave, Mary Beth, Jenny T, Abi, Steve, Gary, Gretchen, Mike, Bob, and Tina. I was really glad to see so many of us come out for the game -- kids, dogs, cheerleaders, and all.

Who saw: Elena, Clare, Emily, Max, Jessie, Ellie, Cassie, Jill, Linda, Toto and Sable.

Who conquered: the Homers 23-2 :(

Ah well... so it wasn't the best game in the world. Not bad for a practice game, tho', dontcha think? -- esp. seeing as how it's our first game as a team and we're still learning each other's names. The Homers don't call themselves the "Homers" for nothing. To see what they said about us, check out their home page at

I figure we shorted them at least three home runs. Maybe more of us should wear dresses in the outfield?? One of the Homers actually complimented our pitching. Not all of them are obnoxious (actually, it's mainly one who's loud enough for all of them). In future games, I promise we'll get more than two at-bats each.

A couple of things I noticed we all have to bear in mind during the games: 1) PAY ATTENTION, 2) keep your eyes on the balls, and 3) "don't just stand there!!". I know I'm guilty of all of those. After a couple of games our skills will un-rust after not having been used for the off-season.

Our next game is Thursday 5/1 on field H3 against the TOADs. If you want to get in some hitting practice, get to the field early. We're the home team so, Barb, don't forget to get the equipment from Charlie's office.

See ya Thursday!
Karen :)
