Pretty afternoon + nice opponents = fun game! Both teams fielded full teams and we were underway by 5:45. Bruisers took the early lead, added to that lead, and despite trying to give it back in the bottom of the fifth inning, managed to keep the lead for our first win of the season.

Bruiser bats were hot tonight -- all but one of us got at least one hit tonight, the majority of us had multiple hits. Juan, EricB, EricG, BobG, Jes, and Jesse were all 3-for-3. Home runs were hit by RandyB and EricG. RBIs were knocked in by EricB (2), RandyB (3), Ann, EricG (4), BobG (2), Jes, Tinman, and Jesse. We mercied the Eccentrics in the second inning and again in the fourth inning. EricG gets the Sneaky Feet award twice: first for running all the way home from second on BobG's single while the fielders were deciding who should catch the ball, and in the second inning when he narrowly avoided getting run down coming home.

Defensively, we did really well, too. Jesse(3B) made good unassisted outs in the first and second innings. Randy(OF) made a good running catch in the first inning. The fourth inning featured outs by EricG's(SS) bullet to Ron(1B), Juan's(OF) great backhanded running catch, and Earl's(3B) throw to Ron(1B). KarenC did her wickets impression in the first and fifth innings (I know, I know... glove ALL the way down!) at second base, but managed to field the ball while pitching and toss it to Jesse(3B) to cut down the lead runner in the second inning. EricB(C) made a good throw to Ron(1B) while managing to avoid hitting the runner in the back of the head for the final out of the game.

Our next game is Wednesday, May 4 against the Crawdads on field H9 (the other field, by the water fountain). I know we'll be missing Douglas, Fabian and Linda. Everyone else should be sure I know if you're coming or not.

Have a great week!

Karen

p.s. Correction to last week's replay: I missed counting Rob's triple in the first inning (and it was an RBI triple, too!). Sorry Rob!
