Yes, this is a first-time ever victory against this team, although we did tie them back in the last century. Past reports also complain about the attitude of this team - maybe those players didn't show up last night? It was a pleasant evening despite the heat (for us at least - a few of their members were a bit miffed at the outcome though!) Luckily their manager didn't suggest ending the game after the 5th when they were ahead by 2, he just asked me if this would the last inning - little did he know what was about to happen!
Defensive highlights include Steve in LF and Bob at SS snagging hard line drives in the 2nd inning, with a good snowcone catch by Andrew in RF for the other out that inning. The best play however was Shaunna to Bob to Leo, who tagged a runner at third in the bottom of the 6th inning.
Offensive highlights include 5 home runs - one by Doug in his Bruiser debut this season, one by Dave, one by Bob G (that's HR's in two games in a row!), and two by Steve including a Grand Slam in the 6th, giving us our 4 run victory margin! Steve did comment that if one of his HR's had been a triple instead, he'd have hit the cycle. Forget the cycle, just hit a home run every time! RBI's were earned by Leo (2), Doug (3), Steve (7), Bob (2), Ron, Dave, Jes, and John.
Our next game is Thursday May 6th against the Running Dogs of NASA on field H9 (the middle field by the water fountain). We are the home team. So far I know we'll be missing KarenC, Andrew, Shaunna, and Amy. Everyone should be sure to respond to the game reminder on Wednesday.
(mgr.note: Congratulations on the win, Bruisers! Many thanks to Nancy for handling the scorebook last night and writing the report. Maybe I should miss games more often! K)
