Well. At the beginning, it looked like it would be one of those fun & goofy C League games that racks up 52 runs and ends in a tie. Then it turned. And not in a nice way. Between the LAMP Fringes' blatantly skewed umpiring which declared at least two runners safe and gave them extra runs, and their suspicious scorekeeping, it became difficult to find friendly adjectives about that team or the game. This is a family show, so I won't repeat what was actually said about them here. The score was confirmed after the third inning at 13-8. After they batted in the fourth inning they said "we got five" making it 18-8. Then, magically, they got more runs (while they were fielding) because when they came to bat in the top of the fifth inning they announced that the score was really 22-8. Perhaps those kinds of magical things will happen when your scoresheet is a piece of Sesame Street notepaper. Or perhaps they just never watched Sesame Street and therefore never learned how! to count? Ya figure if the count is off by one, maybe you just missed counting one of them run across the plate. But four? And after they confirmed their score? Hmmm.... It didn't help matters that their pitching is still probably the worst in the league.

During our fielding times, Ron(1B) had the E-Force working for him leaping and stretching for throws from EricG(SS and 3B), EarlM (SS), E-an(3B) and EarlC(3B). RandEE(C) made a really good attempt to catch a popup, but the fence got in the way. EricB(OF) made an excellent sliding/diving catch for a short fly ball, EPhoton(OF) lived up to his name with at least one, possibly two, good running catches for fly balls, and EKaren(2B) tagged out a runner. Ann gives Emmannuell the "Call It" award for almost running into her (but missing).

We did well with line drives as long as they weren't hit directly at the shortstop or pitcher, but had pretty much just singles. RBIs were earned by EricB, EricB(3), Emmannuell, EarlC, Amy, Ian (2), and Randii (1). Sometime between now and the next game, get thee to batting cages, people!

Our next game is Monday May 7. We'll be the visiting team against the Titans on field HS (grass). I'll be out of town Friday thru Monday (but back in time for the game), so the game reminder will come from Nancy. BobG should be available to play again, too (yaay!) PLEASE let Nancy know if you're coming or not.

Have a great week!

Karen
