It was a beautiful afternoon to play a game with our friends the Deep Space Cadets. Where was their loud Italian guy? The scoresheet got rather jumbled (no more scorekeeping for double-agent Ann!), the final score here is based on some mutual understanding of runs scored before the fourth inning started. The Bruisers had their first meltdown of the season, completely giving the lead away in the top of what would be the last inning, but in the bottom of that inning we managed to squeak out a win - literally. It was exciting. Yaay for being home team and batting last. :)
Defensively, here's how it went: In the first inning Simon(3B) caught a fly ball, then Gerardo(LF) caught a fly ball, then ScottM(RF) caught a fly ball - a neatly packed one-two-three inning. We like those. In the second inning Jose(SS) was a busy guy, getting ground balls to Ron(1B) twice, and then stepping on second base for a force out. The third inning started with a phantom woman out, then Jose (SS) caught a fly ball, and Randy(CF) caught a fly ball -- a three-pitch inning for Nancy. She likes those a lot. The fourth inning... well, that wasn't as pretty as the first three, unfortunately. Between the first and second outs, one was a phantom woman out and one was Simon(SS) getting a grounder to Ron(1B), and then for the third out ScottE(C) picked up a little dribbler and tossed it over the runner's head to Ron(1B). Yaay! Phew.
Offensively, we did have some shining moments. Simon hit a home run, and we had triples from Gerardo (which became the winning run), Jose, and ScottE. RBIs were earned by Randy, Gerardo, Jose (4), Nancy, Simon (2), Nimisha, ScottM, BobbyJoe, Paul, and ScottE. Ron gets a Twinkle Toes award for making it to third just ahead of the throw on ScottM's flyout in the second inning. ScottE gets a Twinkle Fingers award for his gymnastics getting back to third base so he could be there to score the tying run.
Our next game is Monday, May 10. We'll be the home team against the Homers on HN (dirt). So far, I only know we'll be missing ScottM (he'll be on travel, not playing with the enemy). Everyone else please be sure I know if you're coming or not.
Have a great weekend!
Karen :)
