The bad news was that the weather was still icky and dreary. The good news was that a) we got playing the Homers overwith for the season, b) we did manage to tie the score during the game, c) we held them to zero runs in a couple of innings (yaay for the new double-mercy rule??), and d) we ended the game out of the double mercy and with a double-digit score. Best news was discovering that yes, Ann can run now!

Defensively, we boffed a few and caught a few. We definitely held the Homers to fewer home runs than they thought they were going to get, thanks to Dave and BobG in the outfield. Notable events included BobbyJoe's back somersault while attempting to catch a pop-up at first base in the 3rd inning, Andrew's good recovery of a dropped line drive to get the slow-running Homer headed for first base in the 2nd inning, and finally Nancy's one-pitch inning to take care of the top of the 7th inning.

Offensively, we did great hitting it right to their gloves but we did finally start getting hits through to the outfield. We had home runs by Dave and Bob, and a triple by Andrew. RBIs were knocked in by Andrew, Dave (3), Nancy, Jesse (2), Linda, and BobG (3). The Booby prize goes to Homer Ron Baalke for his somewhat unsportsmanlike "home run" which will probably still count in the Homer annals -- even his own team turned against him, suggesting to the Bruisers ways we could have gotten him out (y'know, I shoulda run in with the ball and smacked him down on his way home!) By the way, BobbyJoe says Scott had no chance to catch the ball hit by KarenC in the third inning, and if BobbyJoe says something is so, it's gotta be true (BTW Scott says someone else (who shall remain nameless) was closer and should have caught it).

Our next game is Tuesday May 13 on field H2 against the L.A. Radars, and once again we are home team. I need a volunteer with on-lab parking to bring the equipment back to Charlie on Wednesday, please! I'll be leaving on travel, and I can't keep asking ScottM do Bruiser duties.

Have a great weekend everyone!
Karen :)
