Man. You try to be nice to the other team and loan them people, and they go and nail you with a line drive. This is the first time that the opposing team has requested a loan of Bruiser Babes, and none of them have wanted to go! The weather was nice, and it turned out to be a pretty friendly game, despite having to remind the other team of when they had to take their phantom outs and the poorly placed bases (right next to ankle-breaking holes at home plate and the pitchers mound). The EEs held the lead for most of the game, but in the end, fearful that the Bruisers might actually pull ahead run-wise, the Eccentrics manager called the game after 5.5 innings without discussing it first.

So! On to the game. We did pretty well offensively, despite the bodily sacrifices. In the first inning Rob(3B) ran down players heading to third base twice and DaveM(LF) made a very nice running 2-handed catch. In the third inning, Emmanuel(CF) made good (long) running catches twice. In the fourth inning, KarenC(P) took a soft line drive to the knee but still got the runner out. In the fifth, Jes(2B) made the game a full contact sport as she stood her ground against the old Eccentric who almost ran her down trying to get to second base (she got the out), and BobG(SS) made a great catch for the third out that inning.

Offensively, our bats were really quiet. Fortunately the EE bats were quiet as well. We needed to hit more line drives, as the scouting report recommended! They caught pretty much everything we put in the air. We had no home runs, but we did have triples by BobG and PaulF. RBIs were earned by Nancy, PaulF(2), and Ron. BobG gets the Twinkle Fingers award for getting his hand back onto third base

Our next game is Wednesday May 17. We'll be the visiting team against the Homers on field H9 (fountain). Everyone bring your big bats and big gloves. I believe we'll only be missing the usual no-Wednesday folks which is Douglas and Juan, and Amy.

Have a great weekend!
