Who came (in batting order): Karen, Scott, John, Mark, Barbara, Abi, Marc, Mike, Gretchen, and Rich. Bob also came out, but he played with the Radars (his alter-team) to even out the number of players.
Who saw: Linda, Elena, Clare, and Toto. Mark, think we can teach Claire to run water out to the rest of us during the games? ;)
Who conquered: US! (Technically, they had a forfeit due to lack of women, although they scored more runs.)
Who ate: Gretchen, Marc, Scott, Karen at Round Table.
Well! In the immortal words of Charlie the TOAD: "We didn't suck!" If you don't look at the last inning, which was sorta terrible, the game actually looked pretty good:
Inning | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | Total | Radars | 2 | 3 | 2 | 6 | 12 | 25 | Bruisers | 5 | 1 | 5 | 5 | 4 | 20 |
---|
You will note that we did hold the lead all the way til that last inning! :)
Offensively, we had a very good game. Just about everybody got at least two hits. We had homers from John, Abi and Rich; and RBI's from Karen (3), Scott, John (5), Abi (2), Mike, and Rich (7). I know that doesn't add up to 20, but I lost track of one somewhere... Defensively we did pretty well, but were a little sloppy. We really need to practice stuff like covering our bases, and not letting fly balls go over our heads. We'll get there.
I'm going to try and schedule either a Saturday afternoon practice at a park, or an evening batting cage session soon, so stay tuned. If you have a preference, let me know.
Our next game is TUESDAY May 13 on field H3 (the corner field), 5:30, against the Deep Space Cadets. I know we'll be missing Jessica, Gretchen, Jenn, John, Dan, Barbara and Rich from our 20 who have been out to a game so far this season. I need EVERYBODY to tell me if they'll make it to the game or not so I know if I need to go begging. If you're a "sometimes/maybe" player, please consider coming out for this one. Since the game is Tuesday and I'd have to do the begging on Monday, please let me know ASAP.
See ya Tuesday!
Karen :)
