It was a cold, blustery evening which looked like rain, and belied the fact that it was Spring. Brr! The Homers were out in full force, and while they won the game (as expected), the Bruisers held them to ZERO home runs, so we had that victory for ourselves, and we ended the game out of mercy. Yaay!

Here's how the Homer outs came: In the first inning, Jose(SS) got a grounder to Ron(1B), then Jes(SF) caught a little fly ball, and then Simon(3B) caught a fly ball. In the second inning, Jose(SS) got a grounder to Shane(1B), then he (Jose) caught a fly ball, and then EricB(RF) caught a line drive just in front of the trees. In the third inning, Simon(3B) caught a fly ball, then Gerardo(LF) caught a fly ball, then Randy(CF) caught a fly ball. In the fourth, Gerardo(LF) made a nice running catch in shallow left center, then Jose(SS) got a ground ball to Shane(1B), and then Paul(3B) picked up a ground ball and tagged the runner coming from second base. In the fifth inning, Jose(SS) got a grounder to Simon(3B) for a force, there was a mercy out, and then Jose(SS) made a nice catch of a line drive. In the sixth inning, Jose(SS) fielded a grounder for Shane(1B), Gerardo(LF) caught a fly ball, then Jose(SS) caught a fly ball - a one-two-three inning! In the seventh inning, Jose(SS) passed a grounder to Paul(3B) who tagged the runner, then Paul(3B) made a nice snowcone catch of a little fly ball, and then we mercied again. Highlight play of the evening was a "graceful Jose-Karen collision", in the first inning, as both of them chased an infield popup, but Jose caught Karen (and gently lowered her to the ground) instead of the ball.

Offensively, we had no home runs, but one triple by Gerardo. RBIs were earned by Gerardo (4), Randy, Jes, Ron, Martin, EricB, Shane, Paul (2), Nora (2), and BobbyJoe (3). Nancy gets a Twinkle Toes award for making it home on BobbyJoe's single, and Jes gets a Sneaky Feet for just beating a throw to third.

Our next game is TUESDAY May 18. We'll be home team against the TOADs on the grassy knoll. Everyone please be sure I know if you're coming or not.

Have a great weekend!
