The field was a mess (as usual), but the weather was beautiful for a ball game. For a brief time, we did hold the lead against the TOADs... until they came up to bat in the bottom of the first inning, that is! After that, we basically wandered in and out of single and double mercy, ultimately ending the game in only single mercy. It was still a fun game.

Despite the final score, we did have some really nifty defensive highlights. In the first inning, Andy(C) made a great rolling catch of a foul pop-up, and Ron(SS) *barehanded* a fly bal for an out. Ron(2B) caught a line drive to end the third inning. Fabian(OF), BobG(SS) and Eric(C) teamed up for a nice relay in the fourth. Nancy(P) fearlessly speared a screaming line drive up the middle for the final out in the fifth inning.

Offensive highlights include a full-body dive by Eric onto to second base to keep from being an out. Steve outran a throw from third for a single in the fourth inning. BobG's homerun streak was broken this week, with homers coming from Steve and Eric. RBIs were knocked in by Steve (3), Ron, Andrew, Eric (4), Nancy, BobbyJoe, and KarenC. This week's lesson learned: KarenC needs to practice running faster (esp. when she hits in front of Steve!).

Next weeks game is Wednesday May 19 against the Eclectic Eccentrics on field H9 (fountain field). We'll be the home team. I know we'll be missing Amy, Leo, Linda, Lyna and Fabian. Everyone else please be sure I know whether you're coming or not.
