Pollen, pollen, everywhere... with dust in between and bugs stirring up the whole respiratory mess... yuck! At least the temperature was nice and the sun was out. :) Considering who we were playing, losing by only 3 runs was pretty good (we were even ahead at one point!).
Here's how the out-making defensive plays went: In the first inning Jose(SS) knocked down a hard grounder, made a nice recovery and fired to Ron(1B), Simon(3B) made a good catch of a little pop fly, and then Jose(SS) got another grounder to Ron(1B). In the second inning Jose(SS) got another grounder to Ron(1B), we had a phantom woman out, and Simon(3B) scooped up a low grounder & fired to Ron(1B) to beat the runner. The third inning was all Jose(SS) to Ron(1B) for all three outs. In the fourth inning, EricB(C) scoop up a little infield dribbler and got it to Ron(1B) to beat therunner, we had another phantom woman out, and then Gerardo(LF) made a nice catch of a fly ball. In the fifth inning, Jose(SS) made an unassisted out fielding a grounder and stepping on second base to force the runner, we got another phantom woman out, and then Paul made a great catch 'waaaay out in right field. Then, in the sixth inning... they quit, citing players having to leave.
Offensively, we did pretty well. We got a home run by Simon (which was also videotaped by Shan), and tree doubles by Ron, EricB and Gerardo. Eric's may or may not have been a home run, depending on whether or not it was actually touched by either of the Titan fielders it went under and next to. RBIs earned by KarenC, Jose (4), EricB (2), Simon (5), Earl, and Gerardo. We batted around in the fourth inning, and almost again in the sixth. Almost everyone got at least one hit.
Our next game is on Tuesday, May 19. We'll be the home team against the Wild Turkeys -- this means we won't have Jose or Gerardo (so don't hit to left or short!) -- so we need to field a whole team all by ourselves.
Have a nice weekend!
Karen :)
