Yes, the game was a tie! The other team offered to play another inning (it was a little after 7 pm) but we were losing a few of our 12 players and there's always the chance we would have gotten our butts spanked, so stand-in manager Nancy took the tie. Karen's 9 year old Volvo wouldn't start so she had to deal with tow-trucks while we had fun. The other team was genial and a good time was had by all! Randy Dodge's GQ-esque arrival was upstaged by Amy and Rachel, but he did protect the baby when an errant throw came their way. And Donlin called from Santa Barbara just to say Hi.

Not all highlights got recorded as most of us were on the field or baby-cooing, but Steve shocked and awed the other team by catching everything to left field (and a few other places as well)! Ann was nervous at 2nd base in the 4th, made a great stop, ran to the base - but there was no runner. But it looked good!

Bruisers hit 3 home runs in the 7-run first inning (Steve, Eric, and BobG), but more impressively we batted around +1 (Jes batted twice) in the 3rd, scoring 9 runs on a LOT of singles and doubles - KarenT even beat out a throw to first and got 2 RBI's! Jes knocked in two runs on a triple in the 5th (a little faster and she would have had a home run!) and then Andrew tied the game with a 2-run HR. RBI's go to Steve (4), Eric (4), BobG (4), Ron (3), Juan, KarenT (2), Nancy, Jes (2), and Andrew (2).

Next weeks game is Thursday May 27 against the LA Radars on field H9 (fountain field). We'll be the home team. I know we'll be missing Amy. Everyone else please be sure Karen knows whether you're coming or not.
