Wow, two 7 run innings in one game! We even batted around in the 7th inning, after Don and Bryan left early. Unfortunately the other team had two 8 run innings. But, we dug our way out of the mercy condition at the end. It was 98 degrees when I left lab, at least it was much cooler on the field. We started the game with only 3 women, and Jes was a bit woozy from multiple vaccination shots. But, there were no casualties during the game.
Offensive highlights were ScottM's two 2-run homeruns, and Anders' solo homer to lead off the 7th inning. ScottM was robbed of a third homerun by a great KIDS catch in center. We also had many many doubles, not all of which were the result of overthrows to first. RBI's go to ScottM (5), EricB (2), Don (3), Bryan (3), Leo (4), Dave, Pat, BobG (2), and Anders. Leo and Bryan both got on base every time they batted.
EricB gets two dramatic catch awards (we won't mention the one that got away), with one jumping catch and a tumbling catch-while on-his back-but-didn't-run-into-Dave. Speaking of Dave - calling MINE is good practice but, let's make sure we can actually get there! Andrew at catcher nabbed a good popup, but the hot corner was at third base, with Don and Leo handling all kinds of line drives, flyballs, tags, relays, rundowns, and more.
We have a bye the week of 5/28, and the next game after that is June 4 against the TOADS on H5 (yes 5; the lawn is supposed to be getting torn up after Memorial Day again this year). Refer to the map on our web page for the location of H5.
