Important points to remember (lest we find ourselves saddened by the outcome of this game)
#1 - We didn't get shut out
#2 - The TOADS never scored enough for double mercy
#3 - We did catch a fair number of their hits that went into the outfield
#4 - We did hold them to zero runs in two innings
#5 - Don't believe Head TOAD Charlie when he says they suck

Yes, the final score was kinda ugly, but that's okay; we knew it would probably be that way. It was a beautiful afternoon - perfect California weather - and the two teams had a good time playing each other.

Defensively, we did pretty well, even with ScottM's fielding experiments (did anyone else play in a different position every time they were in the field beside me?). We had good catches from Andrew, Dave and KarenC, and good infield plays, esp the ones from KarenC(P) to Ron(1B) in the first inning, and Leo(3B) to John(1B) in the fourth inning. Ron earned the name "The Rock" for his multiple unassisted outs at first base, plus making the Bruisers' first hit of the game and scoring the Bruisers' first run of the night. Offensively, we were pretty quiet with our only home run coming from Bob, a nice hit to right field which squeaked under TOAD Kelly's glove to the 'way-back outfield. RBIs were knocked in by ScottE (2) and Bob (2).

Tonight's Bruiser Bruise of the Game is Leo who got smacked in the hand by a line drive at 3B in the fourth inning and then went down at first in the sixth inning (which caused TOAD first baseman (Brian, I think?) to let the ball go out of play, giving Leo second base). The "Sacrifice That Bod" award goes to Bob(SS) for his full-out diving attempt to catch a line drive in the first inning. And the "Let the Girls Play" booby prize goes to JohnD(CF) who caught a ball from, literally, over Jes'(SF) head in the third inning. The "Brave Bruiser" award goes to ScottE for his version of the TOADs tshirt.

Next week is a bye week for all teams due to the Memorial Day holiday. Our next game, as currently scheduled, is June 13 BUT because of the resodding of the Rose Bowl over the next few weeks, the game schedule may get changed and the game locations may also be different. **This means we may get games scheduled on weeks that we currently don't have games scheduled!** Please stay tuned for an updated game schedule. I will let you know when/where our games are as soon as I find them out myself.

See you next time, and have a safe and fun holiday!
Karen :)
