All in all, good game! So good it had the Wild
Turkey manager crawling at the Bruiser manager's feet begging that we go
easy on them. :) And, for the first time in three weeks, we didn't get
mercied even for a minute! We had some really good defense going,
including awesome catches by JohnD, Anders and Jes, great combos, and a
Bob-Jeff double play in the third inning. Jenny rocked at third base
making three outs during the game, including two to first base and one
tagging a runner, and going for a fourth out in the first inning. She had
the same guy go down _twice_ at her feet (once on the tag, once just
"because"). Offensively, we had some great stuff going as well, including
home runs by Dave, JohnD, and JohnK, and a triple by Anders. RBIs were hit
in by Ron, Jeff, Ann (2), Dave (3), Bob (2), JohnD (2), Nancy, and JohnK
(2). I got more votes "for" for the inning-by-inning hit thingy than
"against", so here it is again:
Inning What happened
1 Jenny 1B, Ron 1B, Jeff out, Ann 1B, Dave 1B, Bob 2B, Jes
out
2 Anders out, JohnD 2B, Nancy 2B, JohnK 1B, BobbyJoe
1B,
Shaunna out, MB out
3 Scott 1B, Karen out,
Jenny 1B, Ron out, Jeff 2B, Ann 1B,
Dave 1B, Bob 1B, Jes
out
4 Anders 3B, JohnD HR, Nancy out, JohnK HR, BobbyJoe out,
Shaunna out
5 MB 1B, Scott out, Karen out(DP --
sorry MB!)
6 Jenny 1B, Ron out, Jeff 1B, Dave HR, Jes out,
Anders out
7 JohnD 2B, Nancy 1B, JohnK out, BobbyJoe 1B, Shaunna
out
A couple of scary moments happened when Jeff took a bad
hop ball to the nose in the sixth inning (but he still got the runner out
at first!) and when JohnD threw out his shoulder while winging a ball that
landed in Turkey Jack's chest in the seventh inning -- ouch! Fortunately,
everyone seems to have ended up okay. We still need to work on calling fly
balls and covering uncovered bases, but we'll get there.
NEXT
GAME: Wednesday June 2 on field H3 against the Deep Space Cadets. I know
we'll be missing Andrew, and may be short on women as we'll also be missing
Shaunna, Jes, Nancy, and possibly Ann. Everyone please let me know whether
or not (either way, please) if you can make it.
See ya
Wednesday!
Karen :)
