This season's Bruiser record is now 3 wins, 2 losses, and 1 tie. Can you believe it!

The weather was excellent, the Radar babies were absolutely adorable, and the game was fun. We learned who could and couldn't listen to instructions... Leo could (threw the ball to second to get an out when everyone yelled at him to go there), but Eric couldn't (didn't stop at first base, and then almost didn't get back), and ScottE just had a bad memory (er, wasn't there something you were sent to tell me?). Part way through the game Nancy went down with a muscle pull, and then Jes and Andrew had to leave early, but ScottE showed up, and we were able to juggle the lineup a bit to accommodate having women in the right places.

Defensive highlights include several good plays by both Leo and Steve at third base to Ron at first, a nice ScottE(OF)-BobG(SS) Steve(3B) "almost" out at third base, and a good barehanded catch by Randy on the sidelines to keep the dog from getting clocked by a foul ball. Steve made an all-out diving grab for a ball that screamed down the third base line -- he missed the ball, but got style points for the effort. Gotta love people who can remain calm at the bases! :)

The big offensive highlight has to be BobG's 4-run grounder (i.e. grand slam home run) in the third inning. Home runs were hit by Steve, BobG, Doug (Leo's got to learn to run faster when Doug's behind him), and Ron. and Steve also hit a triple. Eric was robbed of a hit in the fifth inning by a really good catch from the Radar shortstop. We batted all the way around +1 in the third inning, which gave us a mercy out to end our half of the inning. RBIs were scored by KarenC, Steve (4), Andrew, John (3). Ron, BobG (4), Leo, Doug (2), and Ann.

Our next game is Wednesday June 9 (next week we have a bye for the holiday week) against Cinco Equis. We'll be the home team on field H9 (fountain field).

Have a great long weekend!
Karen :)
