Karen once again had to beg for players - now that we know the schedule more than a few days in advance, maybe attendance can start improving? We ended up with 7 men after talking Emmanuell into playing for us instead of his regular team on the other field (Thanks, Photon!) KarenC was understandable gunshy about playing as she was flying to Greece the next morning (remember the golfball-size lump she had to go to England with?) She stood in right field the first inning until our last two arrivals showed up. Ann was in a cast but was there to cheer us on and coach bases.

Ellie held down the shortstop position in the 1st inning and made the first two outs with tosses to EricG at 3rd. ScottE at catcher made the 3rd out catching a foul popup. In the second PaulH (SS) made a great throw to Ron (1B), EarlC made a catch of a long fly in outfield, and once again ScottE ended the inning by catching a popup at the plate. In the 3rd inning Photon (LF) made a running catch, then Nancy (P) snagged a pop fly (mostly with the ungloved hand!), and PaulH at 3B made the final out by tagging a runner. Ron was involved in all 3 outs in the 4th, throwing to EricG (SS) at 2B for the first out, and catching throws from PaulH (3B) and Nancy (P) for the other 2. We caught two runners at 2B in the 5th inning via throws from EricG (SS) to Jes (2B), and then EarlC made a catch in RF at the trees.

Bruiser bats were a bit silent again, but we were never mercied and even tied up the game briefly! A total of 6 singles scored the 4 runs in the first inning. The 3rd inning was similar except they kept getting our lead runners. The only extra-base hit of the game was a double by EarlC in the 3rd. RBI's were earned by Emmanuell, EricG, ScottE (2), PaulH (2), and EarlC (2).
