We Won!!
I mean, like, it really feels
good!
And it was a fun game. First we led by ten, and then they
pulled to within 3, and then we pulled away again. We played 'till
8:00.
The scoring sheet is too much of a mess to figure out
what really happened and the sidelines were chaos for the entire game so
there won't be any attempt here to try to tell what happened, but the final
score was 33 to 27. Ordinarily, Karen tries to tell who got home runs and
who got RBIs, but I can't remember any of that. (Karen, we missed you). I
think everyone got at least one RBI. Karl had two legitimate home runs,
Andy had one legitimate homer and one that will be remembered as the
Kamikazi homer. Scott followed with another. Great base-running by everyone
(especially Mike) - and everyone had plenty of chances. Bob stood out at
shortstop.
We had to deal with the handicap of too few women
(ladies, we need you) - we had to field nine instead of 10 when we were on
defense and take an out every time our third female player, if we'd had
one, would have come up to bat (this, only after we were apprised of this
rule by the Eclectic Eccentrics). It still worked out just
fine.
Okay. Playing were: Andy, Jen, Scott, Andrew, Bob,
Bobby-Joe, Karl, Mike, Gretchen, Renaud, Kent, John, and Mark. Supper after
the game at BC was attended by Renaud, Scott, John, Jen, Jill, Andy, Kent,
Gretchen, Bob, and Kim. Please pardon me if I missed any athletes or
eaters.
Next game: is against Rick's Rejects, Tuesday, on field
H2 (at the corner of the field by the Ladies' and Gents'). Karen will be
back.
Be there or be square.
BTW, I'm passing on to
Karen a batting glove that was left behind. If it's yours, it'll be at the
next game.
