With matching meltdown innings I think both sides were happy with a tie. As acting manager I know I was! Nimisha learned why we're called the Bruisers with a bad bounce to the cheekbone, but she was stuck playing 2nd base the rest of the game anyways like a trooper. With only 11 players I begged Rich to come play, which left us one person to write highlights, or otherwise this report would be REALLY short!

Turkey outs came like this:  In the first inning, Nancy(P) snagged a grounder and got it to Ron(1B), Simon(SS) then also got a ball to Ron, and Rich(3B) caught a ball for the 3rd out. The second inning began with Paul(RF) catching a fly, then Simon(SS) got style points for a leaping catch of a hard line drive (comment from other team: hey, no fair leaping that high in C league!), and then Jes(SF) caught a popup for the 3rd out. In the 3rd inning Simon(SS) tossed the ball to Nimisha(2B) for the first out, then Rich(3B) caught a popup and avoided running into Simon, and Rich(3B) also made the 3rd out by fielding the ball and tagging the runner heading to 3rd. The fourth inning had Simon(SS) very busy, he threw to Ron for the first out, got the ball from Jeff(RF) for an out at 2B, then made the third out unassisted. In the 5th inning Rich(3B) caught a foul pop fly for the first out then Simon(SS) caught two more popups for the final outs.

Offensively, let's focus on the 2nd inning, where we batted around plus 3 and scored 11 runs. Yay Bruisers! In that inning alone we had 5 doubles, 5 singles and a home run (by ScottM). Jeff gets an award for a single scoring 3 runs and causing the final (mercy) out.  Way to take advantage of the mercy rule, just keep running! The 5 runs we scored in the 5th on 7 singles were enough to tie the game and while Sam may have wanted to play on, the rest of us were ready to pick up the cones and bases. RBI's were earned by Scott(2), Randy, Nancy, Rich(4), Ron, Jes, Eric, Jeff(4), Nimisha, and Paul(2). Beside Scott's HR doubles were hit by Scott, Randy, Nancy, Rich, Simon, Eric, and Jeff.

Our next game is on MONDAY June 14 when we'll be the visiting team against theCrawdads on field HS (grass).  So far, we already know that we'll be missing Amy, Simon, and ScottE.  Make sure you reply to the game reminder when it comes out Friday. Nancy
