Current season record: 4-3-1 !

It was a beautiful evening for a winwin situation. We had the actual win (by runs scored), and then the Goats had a technical forfeit anyway, when, at 5:41 p.m. they still only had six players. Even with more grace time, they still only had nine players when we finally got started at 5:50 p.m. The game should have stopped after the top of the sixth inning because it was well after 7:00, but some Goats still wanted to play another inning, despite the already agreed-to "last inning" by both teams managers before the sixth inning started. Why? "Because we started so late"... Yeah, and who's fault was that? They refused to get off the field or bring in the cones and bases, so we played another inning and still beat them anyway. This was our first win against the Goat Scouts!

Defensive highlights include a 1-2-3 first inning with great catches by Steve(SS), Earl(OF) and Juan(OF). Steve(OF) made a good recovery of a dropped fly ball to toss the ball to BobG(SS) to get a runner out in the second inning. KarenC managed to not blow any of her plays, including making a feed to Steve(3B) to get the lead runner in the fourth inning. Play of the Day goes to Bob(SS) and Pat(1B) for their amazing double play in the sixth inning. Steve gets all the night's style points for his diving attempt to snare a line drive at third -- he didn't get the ball, and he did get pretty dirty, but he looked good trying!

Offensively, we did great. We had home runs from Juan (his first as a Bruiser!) and Earl*, and Andy hit a triple. RBIs were knocked in by Andy, Jes, Steve, Eric (2), Pat, BobG, Juan (3), Earl (2), and Linda (2). *Earl gets the "Run, Forrest, Run!" award for standing at home plate, watching his hit go down the left field line, and not running until we all yelled at him to run. Fortunately, he did make it all the way around before the ball got back! It should be noted that the Bruisers took and held the lead throughout the game, and would have actually ended with mercy if the game had ended when it should have (now how many times in Bruiser history has that actually happened?).

Our next game is next Tuesday June 22 against the Fringes on field H7 (corner, by the ball-eating sewer). So far, I only know we'll be missing Pat. Everyone please make sure I know if you're coming or not.

Great game, everyone. See you next week!
Karen :)
