The illegal bat was a Worth 3DX. It had a silver handle and black barrel with big red "3DX" letters.
The owner wanted to know why the bat was illegal (besides being specifically listed). The answer is that it has an exterior shell which is disallowed by Rule #2 on the illegal bat list. Bat description and picture here

It looked like it was gonna be an old fashioned Crawdad boil, yessiree... but then dem crawdads started a-fightin' back, and boy howdy, we had us a tussle! (okay, that's enough) The Bruisers started the game strong and looked to dominate mercying the Crawdads in the top of the second inning, but melted down in the fourth inning to let the Crawdads pull ahead. The Bruisers battled back in the top of the fifth and managed to keep the Crawdads from scoring for the win.
Defensive outs were made like this: In the first inning KarenC(2B) managed to catch up to a shallow blooper with a one-handed catch, Paul(LF) made a nice textbook catch of a long fly ball, then Jose(SS) made an amazing over-the-shoulder catch with his back to home plate running towards the outfield. In the second inning Nancy(P) got little dribblers to Ron(1B) twice, then EricB(RF) beat the sun to catch a big fly ball. The third inning was all Nancy(P) and Ron(1B) as they handled all three outs - two dribbles and one waist-high bouncer. In the fourth inning Randy(CF) caught a long fly ball, Jose(SS) caught a little fly ball, then Jose(SS) fielded a low grounder and got it to Ron in time to beat the runner. In an effort to not give the game completely away in the fifth, EricB(RF) caught a fly ball in one of the only patches of sun left on the field, then Randy(CF) caught a fly ball, then Jeff(3B) got a ground ball over to Ron(1B) to end the game.
Hitwise, we made our living on singles and doubles. I believe I remember a couple of tree doubles in there, too, although we had no homeruns or triples. Everybody got at least one hit, and most of us scored at least once. RBIs were earned by KarenC, Jes (3), Randy (4), Paul (5), Liza (2), EricB, and Ron (2).
Our next game is Monday June 21. We'll be the visiting team against the Goat Scouts on the grass field. Please be sure I know if you're coming or not.
Have a great weekend!
Karen :)
