Wow. What a difference a week (and a different opponent) makes! Tonight's game was fun and friendly and tension-free, with plenty of heckling from and to both sides. The score remained fairly close throughout, and while the Bruisers went into the last inning down in runs, we kept it together and managed to squeak out another win. Yaay!

In the first inning: EricB(RF) caught a fly ball, Gerardo (LF) made a running, leaping catch of a fly ball, and Randy (CF) caught a fly ball. In the second, Jeff(3B) fielded a ball and got it to Ron(1B) who almost made a double play, EricB(RF) caught a fly ball and threw it to Ron (1B) who doubled up the sleeping runner, beating him to the base with a nice belly flop. In the third inning, Jeff(LF) made a good running catch for a fly ball, Nancy(P) fielded a little dribbler and threw it to Shane(1B), then Jose(SS) fielded a bounder and got it to Shane(1B) who gets a Twinkle Toes award for beating the runner back to the bag. In the fourth inning, Gerardo(LF) made two fine fly ball catches, then Karen(P) fielded a soft grounder and flipped it to Shane(1B). In the fifth inning, EricB(CF) made a nice catch 'way far in the outfield, Shane(3B) got a grounder to Jes(2B) to force a runner, and then Nancy(P) got a dribbler to Ron(1B) who made another acrobatic out. In the sixth inning, Jeff(3B) caught a soft liner, Paul(CF) caught a big fly ball, and then Jose(SS) fielded a grounder and fired it to Ron(1B) for the final out.

Offensively, we did well enough to win. :) Almost everyone got at least one hit, we had one home run by Randy, and a tree double by Gerardo. Ron further earned his Acrobat Award for surviving being tripped by the Goat third baseman who thought it would be a good idea to try and tag him in the legs. RBIs were earned by KarenC, Randy (2), Jose, Jes, EricB, Ann, Gerardo (3, including the walk-off tree double RBI), Amy, Paul, and Liza.

Our next game is Tuesday, June 23, when we'll be the visiting team against the Paper Tigers on field HN (dirt). I know we'll be missing ScottE, Nora, ScottM, Linda and Liza. Everyone else should be sure to respond to the game reminder on Monday morning.
