Despite the Bruiser manager's attempt to end the game in the sixth inning when we were 12 runs ahead (sorry, I lost track!), we teased them with a possible comeback, but persevered with the win. For the first time in Bruiser history, WE had to take a mercy out. Twice, in fact! That last inning got kinda scary as we gave away seven runs before we got any outs, but we got it back together and held them off. Phew!
Seventh inning aside, all of us played very well. Offensively, everybody had at least one hit, including home runs by John (2), Andy, Abi, Rich, and Brad. RBIs were earned by Karen (2), John (4), Andy (2), Abi (3), Beth, Rich (3), Mike, and Brad (3). Defensively, we were pretty sharp, too, making some very impressive plays and catches.
Interleague play begins for us with our next game on Wednesday, June 25 against the D-League team the IR Sox. Don't worry, we'll still be playing with C-League rules. I already know we'll missing Andy, Dave, Mary Beth, and probably Barb. Everyone else be sure to tell me whether or not you'll make the game, ok?
With the request for fielding practice, I'll try to figure out some date to hold one. My own schedule is kind of busy for the next two weeks, then I go on vacation for a week. I can set something up, and maybe be there at the beginning, but someone else would need to run the practice. If you want to volunteer, let me know. Otherwise, we're looking at after the 4th of July holiday.
See you on the 25th!
Karen :)
