Da Bruisers: KarenC, Scott the Storytelling Man, Andy, Shaunna, JohnK, Jenny, Renaud, Kent, Ann, BobbyJoe, JohnD, Kathy, Steve and Brad.

Special thanks to KarenT who graciously allowed herself to be loaned to the other team so they'd have three women (and did so without taking her cookies with her!). She got at least one hit, and made a couple of good stops at short field for the Eccentrics.

Amazing Disappearing/Reappearing Spectators: Emily, Max and Nora

Victory Dinner Napkin-Fighters at Crown City: Andy, Dr. J, Max, Nora, Emily, Steve, KarenT, Ann, Kent, Brad, Renaud, JohnK, JohnD, Kathy, Scott and Kiki.

Box Score: 1 2 3 4 5 6 Total

E.Eccentrics 6 0 0 3 1 2 12

Bruisers 12 3 0 3 5 x 23

We WON! We finally WON! And, we effected the Mercy Rule in the process! Whoohoo!!! Ahhh.... Sweet Victory!

Things didn't look so good in the beginning, but da Bruisers came back with 12 runs and put da hurt on the Eccentrics early, batting all the way around the order in their half of the first inning, and never looking back. We had some great "who _are_ these people?" plays all through the game. Most notable was the unstoppable pairing of JohnK (SS) and Brad (1B), who made probably a quarter of the total outs. Other notable plays include Brad's catch of a rightward-drifting fly ball in right field, Jenny's heads-up tag of a runner headed for second base, and KarenC's "what, who, me? oh no!" catch of an infield fly ball.

The alien switch of Bruisers gave us lots of hitting power too. Everyone got hits; most got at least two. Home runs were hit by Scott (2 RBI and 1 RBI), Steve (3 RBI) and Brad (1 RBI and 3 RBI), and Andy hit a triple. If we'd had a grand slam home run, we could have homered for the cycle (does that stat really exist? -- we'll have to ask Ross Porter). RBIs were knocked in by Scott (3), Andy (2), Shaunna, JohnK, Renaud (2), Kent, Ann (2), BobbyJoe, JohnD, Kathy, Steve (4), and Brad (4).

The Dodgers could have learned something from watching us. :)

Next week's game: Tuesday 6/22 against The Ozone on field H2 (the other one, next to the water fountain). I'm writing this from home so I can't reference my Meeting Maker for future games, but I think we'll only be missing Shaunna, who'll be off recruiting Bruisers in Switzerland for a couple of weeks. Everyone please be sure I know whether to expect you or not.

BIG NOTE: Even though we only have one more game on the current schedule, the season goes out through the end of August. The schedule will (hopefully) come out soon, and I'll get to you all as quickly as possible.

See you Tuesday!

Kiki :)
