The afternoon was warm, but beautiful. H5 is probably the worst field we've played on in a long time. The opponents were a bit tense, altho' who knows why since they mercied us much earlier in the game than the Homers had the previous week. Maybe it was because they wanted to start the game at 5:30 on the dot and we Bruisers weren't the same kind of hurry. Those things aside, however, it was a fun game.
Defensive highlights include an amazing snowcone catch by Jes(SF) in the first inning, a good infield play from Nancy(P) to Ron(1B) in the second inning, amazing catches by Shonte in the third and sixth inning (the second one being a graceful arabesque amidst a legion of rampaging soccer players), and really good catches by Don(SS) including all two Cadet outs in the fourth inning. Offensively, the Cadets had more home runs (even more than the Homers last week!) than we did, but ours had much more panache and entertainment value at the bat of Anders who chased KarenT all the way around from first. RBIs were knocked in by Leo, Nancy, Pat (2), Mikael (2), Shonte, KarenT (2), Anders (3) and ScottE.
Our next game is next TUESDAY JUNE 25 on field H2 against the Paper Tigers. The game starts at 5:30, so PLEASE be early to stretch and warm up -- we all need it! We'll be missing at least me, Linda, BobbyJoe, Pat and Ron. Scott will be in charge, so let HIM know if you're coming or not (scott.c.morgan@jpl.nasa.gov). There will not be a voicemail reminder, only email. The web page will be updated after I get back.
Have fun next week!
Karen :)
