Meanie of the Day: TOAD Scott Galloway - for catching Jesse's hit in the 5th inning, and then throwing him out in the 6th inning when Jesse was pinch running for ScottE. (Yeah, Cherry, at 20 runs ahead would it really have hurt ya to drop that one?)

Wow. That elusive third out turned out to be the hardest to find, esp. when it was the only out we needed to get. But that's okay, we knew it would probably be that way. We would have forced a forfeit when, at 5:30, the field wasn't yet set up and the TOADs didn't have enough players, but since the infractor was the C League Commissioner, we decided not to force the issue.
Anyway, final score notwithstanding, we did have some notable moments. Defensively, Bryan(LF) made an awesome tumbling snowcone catch in the first inning, Ron(1B) made a great unassisted out racing the runner to first base in the third inning, Dave(SS) made the out in the fifth inning to stop that bleeding, and EarlM(SS) made a great running catch to end the top of the seventh inning (phew!). Offensively our hitting slept through most of the game, but we did have a triple from Ron followed by a home run from EarlM in the 7th inning. Eric alertly ran home to score on Bryan's fly ball in the 6th inning before Don got tagged out at third. RBIs were knocked in by Bryan, Ann, and EarlM (2).
Next week we have a bye. Efforts are continuing to find us a second field to play on, so we may still have a game on 4th of July week (hey, the holiday is on Friday so we still have Monday Thursday to play!), so don't write off that week yet. I'll let you all know what's happening as soon as I know.
