Well, I guess if we had to be pounded, it was good to be pounded by the Goat Scouts -- the most polite team to multiple-mercy us (esp. knowing finding out they had beaten the Homers AND the TOADs). Despite having about half of us gimpy and or DL'd to some extent, we tried hard, even getting a one-up-one-down fifth inning.

We didn't get any big hits (sorry I jinxed you, Andrew), but on the good innings did manage to stack up enough singles and doubles to get multiple runs. RBIs were knocked in by Andrew, KarenC, Renaud (2), KarenT, MikeG, and Marc. The Goats managed to find our outfield holes, but we did get some good infield plays, including a very close play at first which the Goat coach called safe... illiciting a chorus of boo's from his own bench. Earl got lots of exercise, running around in the outfield and doing his best Scott imitation (altho' without all the sweat). JohnK was a trooper playing catcher with his sore back until someone showed up to sub for him, and then he became the evening's field manager. Thanks also to Nancy, KarenT and Andrew for the extra running they did for us gimpy ones.

Speaking of Scott, if you want to know what he's up to, go to the Race Across AMerica web page. I'm told if you follow where the lead solo rider is, that's approximately where Scott is: http://www.raceacrossamerica.org/ Last night that would be somewhere in Idaho. Check out the Daily Reports & Pics section; he's in a couple of pictures.

Our next game is Wednesday, I believe. I still don't have the schedule yet, but that's what I've been told. As far as I know, we'll be missing Jim, Marion, and probably also Jes, Liza and Bob because it's Wednesday. Everyone please be sure I know if you'll be there or not (esp. the women!!)

See you next week! I'll put the schedule out as soon as I get it.

Karen :)
