We tried to unravel the Fringes, and it looked like we might have the chance in the first inning, but despite the Fringes lack of their manager and key softball-knowledgable members of their team, and giving them lots of slack on letting kids play, etc., they remained tightly knotted.
Defensive highlights were few, but the include a nice catch by Jes(2B) on a ball thrown by Bob(SS), a great leaping snowcone catch by Earl(RF) to end the second inning and keep us from being mercied, and a couple of "Ms. Meanie" outs by KarenC(P) on the children (hey, they were way ahead, there was no room for more gifts to those kids!). The Fringes did make a couple of good plays, including a good reflex catch by their pitcher on a line drive by Fabian.
Offensively, Fabian gets the "Good Runners" award for twice sneaking home when the defense had quit paying attention. We had home runs by Andrew, Steve (into the encroaching soccer players in left field), BobG (a beeeautiful shot down the right field line), and Eric. RBIs were earned by Leo (2), Fabian, Ann, Andrew (4), Steve (2), BobG (4), Jes, Eric (2), and John.
Our next game is MONDAY June 28 against the K.I.D.S. on field H9 (same corner/ball-eating sewer field as last night). Pat will have our new shirts, so come early to get them! Please make sure I know if you're coming or not.
See you Monday!
