We got our new team shirts! And, boy, are the cooooolll! Thanks to BobT for subsidizing them! KarenC admitted to having a severe blonde moment after realizing that she had sent everyone (including herself) to the wrong field. It might have been better to play with whoever was at the first field, tho', since we didn't exactly have our best game tonight. The overly burly guys on the KIDS got plenty of equally burly hits. However, they also had the absolute worst pitching we've ever encountered in C League. It took them three pitchers before they had someone in who could throw even remotely decent pitches. We hoped the pitches would improve during the game, but alas that was not the case (it's hard to get good hits from sucky pitches, isn't it?).

The KIDS had a lot of good hits, and we did have some miscues in the outfield, but we did have some notable plays, too. Andrew made a spectacular bobble catch in the first inning, and Steve made a great outfield catch to end that inning. The second inning outs came on a nice Bob(SS)-Ron(1B) play, a good 2-handed catch by KarenC(P), and a rocket from Steve(3B) to Ron(1B). The need for medical assistance was narrowly avoided when KarenC(P) and Steve(3B) both ran to catch a short foul pop. The KIDS caused a controversial incident at third base when the KIDS third base coach and his buddy (who wasn't coaching) stopped a ball that Steve was in the process of fielding to throw back into the field of play, rather than getting out of both the ball and fielders way. When called on interference, they said "hey, we were just helping your fielder by stopping the ball". Grrr.

On our offensive front, we didn't have any home runs, but Steve did have a triple. RBIs were knocked in by KarenC, Steve, Eric, Ron, and BobG. Better pitching would probably have led to better hits by us, but one's view sort of depends on who's team you're on. Ah well. There's always next week.

Our next game is Tuesday July 6 (the day after the JPL holiday) on field H9 (the FOUNTAIN field! (yeah, I double-checked :)) against the Crawdads. So far, I only know we'll be missing Jessica. Everyone else please be sure I know if you're coming or not. If you haven't gotten your new shirt, Pat will have them.

See you then!
Karen :)
