Bleeder of the Game: Kent, who proved he coagulates well, but may never get that stain out of his sock. As for my ankle, doc says it's a sprain, but I have to stay off it until after I see the sports medicine docs... :( Anyone know where to get an air splint around here?

It was quite a respectable game, despite the fact that we lost. We had some really good hits, and some excellent fielding. Offensively, we put the hurt on the Gravity Fielders with home runs by Andrew, Steve and Kent. RBIs were knocked in by Andrew (2), JohnK, KarenT, Kent (2), and Steve. Defensive highlights included a "made it look easy" catch at second by Jes, and and good backup of our pitcher by KarenT, also at second. JohnK made a great snag of a line-drive back to the him (which, if it had been me pitching, would have hit me in the face), and we had good outfield catches by Scott and Brendan, and a couple of really nice plays to get runners at first. Humor highlight would have to be Marc's Jose Canseco imitation when he bounced a thrown ball off the top of his head while getting back to second base.

Dinner was a somewhat sad affair as we bade adieu to our friend Renaud. After 1.5 seasons with the Bruisers, he's returning home to Lyon France, with a genuine C League softball signed by his Bruiser Buddies. We'll miss you Renaud! We expect to have France participating in Olympics softball soon, with you as the team manager.

We'll all have plenty of time to recover from our injuries and illnesses, since our next game isn't until Thursday July 9. We'll be playing the Crawdads out on field H4. Check out the web page for the map. I know we'll be missing Andrew, Jessica and (sniff!) Renaud. Everyone let me know if you'll be there or not! Don't worry, I won't forget to do the reminder this time!!

See you then, and have a fun and safe holiday weekend!

Karen :)
