Refreshed from the long weekend, the Bruisers came out to play big time. Despite a couple of knocks and owies to the pre-game warmup pitchers, the primary owies during the game were on the Gravity Fielders. We were bitten several times by fielders choice outs and the early lead belonged to the G.Fielders, but in the second half of the game the Bruisers made a big push to almost tie, then pull ahead and then hold the Gravity Fielders to zero in the last inning. This is our first win against the Gravity Fielders!
Defensively, we did well, dropping or missing only a couple of fly balls, and sending only one throw into the gutter. We had good catches from Scott and Dave in the outfield, and some really good infield plays and catches as well. Notable Play of the Game was the awesome DP between Bob and Marc in the third inning. Offensively, we really rocked with some amazing hits, coming close to batting around in both the fourth and sixth innings. Everyone (except Mary Beth) got at least three at-bats, almost everyone (including Mary Beth) had at least two hits each, and all but two of us came across home plate at least once. Home runs were hit by Scott and Bob (with Bob's grand slam in the sixth sealing the game's fate), and RBIs were hit in by Karen, Scott (2), Andrew (4), Andy, Dave (2), Mikael, Marc (2), Amy, Renaud (2), Anders (2), Bob (6), and JohnD. We scored in every single inning. Wow!
Next game is Tuesday July 11 against the Wild Turkeys on field H2 (the one that backs up to the water fountain). So far, I think we're only missing BobbyJoe. Everyone please make sure I know whether or not to expect you.
See you Tuesday!
