Bruisers vs. Crawdads, July 6, 2004

Da Bruisers took an early lead, and held it until the fifth inning. Fortunately, we were able to regain the lead, and managed to hold it (manager's pending heart attack notwithstanding) for a victory. Both teams had scads of people, and it was a fun game.

Defensive gems were made by Ron(SS) with his unassisted DP in the first inning, Nancy's(P) good two-handed catch for the third out in the second inning, Steve's(3B) snag of a hard line drive in the fifth inning, and of course Amber(SF), Leo(3B) and JohnD's(OF) catches in the sixth inning to preserve the win. The biggest highlight has got to be Steve(3B) with his diving catch of a little foul pop to end the third inning. Even the Crawdads applauded the catch.

Offensively, we hit big with home runs by Andrew, Eric, and Doug. RBIs were earned by KarenC, Andrew (2), Leo (2), Steve, Nancy, Eric (2), Doug, bobG, Earl, Bobby Joe, and JohnD. KarenT earned the "Sneaky Feet I" award for squeeking her way onto first base just ahead of a throw in the second inning, and Amber earned the "Sneaky Feet II" award for getting to to second base while the Crawdads scrambled to retrieve a wildly thrown ball in shallow right.

Our next game is next Tuesday, July 13. We'll be home team against the dastardly Homers on field H7 (corner). Everyone please make sure I know if you'll be there!
