July 7, 1997 vs. Cyclones

PRACTICE on Saturday: anyone interested? So far there's only me, Jenny and Scott. It would be this Saturday 7/12 around 11:00 at a park (no, not a cage). I'd like at least six of us there so we can do fielding and batting practice. Tell me ASAP; I'll make the decision on Thursday morning based on responses.

DODGERS game on Friday: Scott and I have on extra ticket for the Dodgers vs. Giants game this Friday 7/11. If you're interested in going, let me know ASAP (first come first served) because this afternoon Scott gets to ask his softball team if anyone wants to come, and if he gets no takers it will be offered to my fun stuff list. No, you don't have to be a Dodgers fan to sit with me. :)

* * * * * * * * Now for last night...

Who tried to play nicely with minimal complaints from the Cyclones: Karen, Scott, Andy, Rob Cosgrave (all the way from Ireland for his first-ever softball game), Dan, Rich, Annette (graciously lending herself from the Homers, thank you!!), Renaud, Mike, Steve, Gary, and John.

Who played nicely by themselves with minimal supervision: Emily and Max.

Who won: Them. 22-12, plus we forfeited due to lack of women (now, how could that happen, seeing as how we have the most women on any team in the league?? Sigh.)

Box score:

Ah well... We'll get a chance to even the score in a couple of weeks.

We've had worse games. Despite falling apart in the fourth inning, we didn't do too terribly. John hit the only home runs of the game; one of them a grand slam in the fourth inning. RBI's were earned by Rob (2), Renaud (2), Mike, Steve and John (6). Defensively, we did get some good catches and plays, but need to make sure we're watching for still-in- play balls to come back in from the outfield. Practice, practice, practice!

Our next game is Wednesday 7/16 against the Wild Turkeys at 5:30 on field H3 (NOT the field we've been on the last few weeks, but the one in the corner). Please let me know if you'll be there or not. We need to start on time, and we MUST have at least three women when we start. (The Wild Turkeys manager counts everything, and keeps statistics on his games, which he shares them with all the C League managers, so if anyone wants to seem them (they're amusing) let me know.)

Don't forget to let me know about practice on Saturday!

See you next week,
Karen
