What's that smell? We smelled it before... what is that? Ahhh... VICTORY!! It was a really good day, despite the early afternoon's inclement weather. Both teams were fully staffed, and da Bruisers trompled the LA Radars (who, historically, have beaten the pants off the Bruisers). The mercy rule was effected in the 4th inning and never left -- first in Bruiser History.

With fireworks heralding the start of the game, da Bruisers settled in to scoff Mother Nature and played probably the best game of the season. Offensively, we were hot (well, except me, who was the only one with no hits in the whole game), batting all the way around, plus one, in the second inning. Anders had our only home run, a spectacular run despite slipping on the grass rounding third base, and Bob hit a triplet of triples. RBIs were knocked in by Andy, Scott, JohnD, Dave, Anders (4), Bob (3), Jenny (3), and Kenny (4) [or something close to this -- I had 18 colored-in squares, but 20 RBI marks].

Defensive dazzlers included an amazing stab catch by Jenny, an "oh no, not me!" catch off third base by Karen, some really good outfield catches by Mike, and Bob -- what can I say about Bob, except he makes everything look easy? Honorable mention play-of the-game goes to the Radar kid who made the slipping catch of Dave's ball, which bounced off the pitcher's glove, to make an out, before the ball hit the ground.

The hit list:
1 Karen out; Andy out, Scott 1b, JohnD out.
2 Nancy 1B, Dave 1B, Anders HR, Bob 3B, Jenny 1B, Renaud 1B,
Kenny 1B, Mary Beth 1B, Mike 1B, Karen out, Andy 2B?,
Scott 2B, JohnD 1B,
Nancy out.
3 Dave out, Anders 2B, Bob 3B, Jenny out, Marc 1B, Renaud 1B,
Kenny 2B, Mary Beth out.
4 Mike 1B?, Karen out, Andy 3B, Scott out, JohnD 1B, Nancy 1B,
Dave 2B, Anders 1B, Bob 3B, Jenny 1B, third out on mercy
5 mercy out, Renaud out, Kenny out

Thanks for not wimping out from the rain everyone!

Next game: Thursday July 15 on field H2 against Cinco Equis. So far I only know that we'll be missing JohnK and Kathy. Everyone please be sure I know if you're coming or not.

See you next week!

Karen :)
