Oh what a game! Was that really us? You betcha! Of course, now we've got some other team in the league thinking we're really good... :)

As so many times before, the game looked great at the very beginning, then quickly turned rather grim-looking. Only this time the Bruisers persevered, effecting the mercy rule in the sixth inning. Offensively, we were very offensive. Almost everyone got at least one hit. Homers were slugged by Scott (2), Richard (3), Bob, and Brendan (2), plus one by Andy which the Crawdads called a foul after he'd gotten all the way home. Triples were hit by Randy and Richard, and RBIs were knocked in by Scott (2), JohnD, Nancy, Randy (5), Richard (7), Andy, Jenny, Bob (2), Brendan (4), JohnK, Marc, and Kathy (2).

Defensive play had it's expected flaws, but we made some spectacular plays, including a very Major League looking play by Marc to JohnK to get a runner at first, outstanding catches in the outfield despite a nasty setting sun, and an excellent throw (inspired by the afternoon's Dodgers game, no doubt) from Richard at center field to Steve at home to cut down a run. Phew! The "dodge that tag" award goes to Steve who denied the Crawdads a run down between first and second bases by letting them get really close to him, then blowing past the first baseman back to (unprotected) first base while she threw over his head.

Our next game is Wednesday July 15 against the TBDs on H2. We'll be the home team again. I already know we'll be missing JohnK, Nancy, Dave and Mary Beth Redding, Scott, Mike, Jenny, and probably Bethany. I need everyone else to be sure to tell me if they'll be able to make it to the game. If you can possibly make it, please do -- we won't have any personnel help from the Homers because they also have a game that night.

See you next Wednesday!

Your beloved manager,

Karen :)
