Tonight we had a double-win, first because the ET team (who actually showed up sober this year!) forfeited by not having enough players (or any women) by game time, and then because we managed to outscore them in general! Nancy and KarenT volunteered to be ETs to start the game, and then we got them back when their women's team bus finally showed up in the second inning. Despite the general unkempt-ness of the infield area (and the thorns and bugs), Eaton-Blanche Park wasn't such a bad place to play. We played four complete innings before ET management asked to cut off the game.

Defensive cheers go to Steve(LF) for his TWO amazing diving tumbling catches of fly balls in the second and fourth innings (ah, to be young again!). Other notable plays include Eric's(CF) running catch and Pat's(1B) unassisted out in the third inning, and in the fourth inning Steve(LF) caught a long fly ball to left, and heaved it allllll the way to Rich(1B) to double up the runner on her way to second base, and Juan(SS) made a nice over-the shoulder catch for the third out.

Offensively, everyone who was there for the entire game got to bat twice and had at least one hit. 15 out of 18 Bruisers batted in the fourth inning. BobG arrived late and ended up getting gypped out of a real at-bat because we mercied the ETs just before his turn, so we played a "Bob inning" in which he hit three balls to the outfield, completely confusing the (already confused anyway) ET players who couldn't figure out if the game was really over or not. Tonight's blooper reel play goes to the ET player who, in the second inning, slid, err... belly-flopped, just short of third base and managed to crawl the rest of the way there before getting tagged. Although many tried to reach the fences, our only home run was hit by ScottM. Don't worry, we'll get another chance next week. RBIs were knocked in by KarenC, ScottM (3), Jes, Rich, Andrew (2), Leo, Juan, Steve (2), Anders (2), Nancy, KarenT (2), and ScottE (2).

Our next game is next Tuesday, July 22, back at Eaton-Blanche Park, against the Goat Scouts. Game time 5:30, get there by 5:15 to stretch and warm up. I already know we'll be missing Ron, Amy, KarenT, Marc, Mikael, and BobbyJoe. Everyone else should let me know if whether or not they'll be there.

Have a great week!
Karen :)
