Bruise rs 1998

JULY 15 vs. TBDs

Playing for the Bruisers: Jes, Andy, Andrew, Marc, KarenT, JohnD, Brendan, Bob, Beth, Steve and Kathy.

Helping out the TBDs: Clarissa, Bobbyjoe, Gretchen and Rhiannon.

The peanut gallery: Karen, Kim, Barbara and Kindra.

Game-powering candy provided by Kathy (thank you!)

Diners at Baja Fresh where the summer heat caused the conversation to turn to stories of skiing and East Coast winter weather: Steve, Emily, Max, Andy, Jill, Kathy, KarenT, Beth, Rhiannon, Kindra, Barbara, Brendan, Jes, KarenC and Marc. Also discussed was some kind of spam award for the vacationing (yes, we all know!!!) JohnK and his automatic vacation reply message.

Bruisers win by forfeit (actual runs scored: TBD/Bruisers 8, Bruisers 7).

'Twas a hot day, or so the Bruiser's beloved manager was told, and the TBDs were severely understaffed. But, we shared players and got in a half game. Everyone don't forget to thank Andy for being equipment manager tonight!

Defense was a tick spotty (gotta run for those balls, gang!); Jes gets defensive pats on the back for making three of the nine TBD/Bruiser outs, including two nice catches and one in which she hit a TBDer over the head at second. Hitting-wise, highlights were a 2-run homer from Bob, and a long "it coulda/shoulda been a home run" hit by Brendan. RBIs were knocked in by Jes, Andrew (2), Brendan, and Bob (3). In a longer (real) game, we'd have probably pulled ahead.

Next game is Thursday July 23 on field H4, and so far I think we'll be missing Scott for sure and maybe Jes. I should be able to play again by then (which means field management will get disorganized again, but it's killing me to sit!!).

Anyone interested in an outing to the batting cages? There's still a little money left in the Bruiser Bank to supplement the outing. Let me know; it'll probably be on a Saturday morning (i.e. ~11:00) or Sunday afternoon (somewhere between 1:00 and 4:30) in the next couple of weeks.

See you next week!

Karen :)
