Quotes from the field:
- "Igollagolla!" which, translates to "I got it, I got it!" - PT catcher Travis going for EricG's pop foul in the third inning, which was ultimately caught by the third baseman
- "We do good when we get three outs and they only get two" - ScottM
Weird, random note on scoresheet: "Lost bet - ScottE shows in 2nd". Er, okay.

One thing about final scores is that they can mask the mystery and melodrama that took place during the actual game... if you don't look at the box score, that is. The Bruisers were knocked around by good PT batting in the first inning and trailed badly, falling in and out of mercy several times. Then, fortunes turned around enough that we almost came completely back, and the final score actually looked pretty respectable. We only had to remove one illegal bat (blue, for future reference) from the Paper Tigers bunch o' bats this time, which is better than in previous games.
In the first inning, Ron(1B) earned a Golden Glove for catching an EricG(SS) throw to lay a sweeping backhand tag on the runner, then Nancy(P) fielded a dribbler to Ron(1B) to get a runner, and then Jose(3B) made an unassisted out by field a ball and stepping on third base. In the second, EricG(SS) fielded a hard grounder and tossed it to Jose(3B) to get the lead runner, then PaulH(RF) beat the sun to catch a towering fly ball, then we hit mercy. In the third inning, we started in mercy, then EricW(LF) caught a fly ball, and then Jose(3B) combined with Ron(1B) for the third out. In the fourth, EricB(3B) fielded a grounder and tagged third base (narrowly missing a double play when the ball grew wings and sailed over Ron's head), we hit mercy again, and then EricG(SS) got a grounder to Ron(1B). In the fifth, EricB(3B) made an unassisted force by tagging third, then we were mercied again, then Nancy(P) threw a grounder to Jose(1B). In the sixth, we started with one mercy out, then Gerardo(LF) made a nice catch, and then EricW(3B) made a nice toss to KarenC(2B) for a "great effortless play" (I swear, someone else wrote this on the scoresheet!). We had to get all three outs in the seventh inning, so we made it quick and easy with Jes(SF) easily catching a hard line drive, Jose(3B) catching a popup, and PaulH(RF) sending a ball over to EricG(SS) who laid a nice tag on a sliding baserunner.
Offensively, we did nothing notable early on, being hitless in the first and second innings (note to self: don't hit to Omar in center). Our bats woke up in the third, thanks to Jose's home run, and we had hits in every inning after that, including batting completely around in the sixth. Home runs were hit by Jose and EricG, and ScottM had a triple. RBIs were collected by KarenC, ScottM, Ron (3), EricB (2), Jose (2), EricG (2), Jes, and ScottE.
Our next game is Wednesday July 23, and we'll be home team team against the Titans on HN (dirt). Everyone please be sure to let me know if you're coming or not.
See ya Wednesday!
