It turned out to be a shortened game as we had to wait for Crawdad players to show up. We ended up providing a catcher and starting around 6:15 while they played shorthanded in the field. I don't think the game counts as an forfeit, tho', since they did have enough women.. The lead belonged to the Crawdads for most of the game, although we did manage to pull ahead in the top of the fourth inning with a six-run rally. Unfortunately, they had their own six run rally in the bottom of that inning and kept it for the win.

Good defensive plays came in form of a good Nancy-Marc play in the second inning to get a runner and all three outs in the third inning being made by the four basemen -- Jeff at third, Scott at short and KarenC at second, respectively, to Marc at first to get runners. Renaud, in left field, fooled the Crawdads into hitting him fly balls by narrowly missing one, then catching the next two. Offensively, there was a bit less excitement on the base paths than during last week's game, and we batted almost our whole lineup in the fourth inning. Tonight's Mr. Hustle award goes to Jeff, who was sent home from third by Earl and narrowly missed being tagged out coming home. Our only home run of the night was a Bonnie-inspired hit by Kent. RBIs were knocked in by Andy, KarenT, Dave (2), Kent (3), Jeff (2), and Anders.

Our next game is next Wednesday July 26 against the Eclectic Eccentrics on field H3 (the one by the ball-eating sewer). So far I know we'll be missing Dave, Mary Beth and Liza, and probably also Jes and Amy. Everyone please be sure I know if you're coming or not (esp, the women!!).

See you next week!
Karen :)
