Defensively, we did pretty good, despite all the reeeeeally long balls (man, some of those guys hit FAR!) the Gravity Fielders were hitting. Ron was a most patient man at first base, dutifully going for every ball fouled off on the right side. Our infielders made a lot of good plays (Darcy has to come back and play again), including an amazing play between Darcy and Ron to get a speedy runner in the second (or first?) inning. KarenC finally sewed up the hole in her glove to help the guys force a couple of runners at second base and toss a ball to Ron to get the runner going to first - phew!
Offensively, almost everyone got at least one hit. Home runs were hit by Scott (2) and triples (2) by Bob (both of which could have been home runs, but the gentleman in him wouldn't let him mess with the GF infielders, and he ended up scoring both times anyway). RBIs were knocked in by KarenC, Scott (6), Jason, Nancy, Ann, Ron, Jim (2), Greg, KarenT, JohnD (2), Bob (2), and Mary Beth (2). Dave gets tonight's "hang up and play" call for fielding a cell phone call in left field. Ann gets the "Secretary of the Year" award for answering the same cell phone in the dugout later in the game.
Our next game is next Thursday July 26 on field H2 (the other field). We'll be home team against the Crawdads (who we tied earlier in the season). I know we'll be missing Andy, BobbyJoe, Scott, Marc, and Mikael. Jesse and Ellie will be back from their scounting trip back East. Everyone else please be sure I know if you're planning to come or not.
See you next week!
Karen :)
