July 21, 1997 vs. Cassini Grounders

UPCOMING GAMES: The current schedule has games on the next two Tuesday and then it stops. HOWEVER, we still have three games after that which are still to be scheduled. I should get the schedule next week (I hope!) so stay tuned.

FROM LAST WEEK: It was brought to my attention that I forgot to include who got RBIs in last week's game against the Wild Turkeys: Scott (3), Mark, Andy, Rob (2), Jenny, JohnK, Marc, and Renaud.

* * * * * * * * * * Now, for last night's game

Who played: Karen, Andy, Scott, Mark, Jenny, Renaud, Yves in his Bruiser Debut, Mike, Gretchen, Gary, John, and Julie.

Who watched: Belen, Emily, Max, Claire, Toto, Linda and Jill.

Who won: neither; we tied at 16-16 because it was really late.

Despite the lateness of the game start, the Bruisers were fired up, scoring six in the first inning, but the cold, cruel afternoon worked hard against us. We gave up nine in the fourth, and battled back to end the game in a tie. We lost Gary in the second inning when he was hurt running to first. He gamely stayed in fielding as catcher in the third, but then had to leave the field. The good sport award goes to Julie who, innocently watching from the sidelines, was conscripted into the game to catch in Gary's place.

Offensively, we did great, with Yves' making a couple of great plays at second base (are you sure you've never played before?), Jenny catching a fly ball at short field, and Scott making two outs in the same inning catching flies in the outfield, and plenty of good infield plays. Defensively, we were hitting all over the place. Just about everyone got at least one hit, and we got home runs from Andy, Scott, and Mike. RBIs were knocked in by Andy, Scott (3), Jenny, Yves (2), Mike (5), Gretchen (3), and Gary.

Our next game is Tuesday July 29 against the Cyclones on field H3 (where we were yesterday). This is the team we played two weeks ago where we didn't have enough women, so we need to be sure we have enough this time. I already know we'll be missing Jenny and Steve, Renaud, Bob, and Brad, and possibly still Jes and Barb. *Please let me know if you'll be able to make the game or not.* Our attendance has been very low in the last few weeks (esp. the women), so I really need to know who's going to be there. We only have five more games to go, so if you haven't come out yet, you should do so real soon!

See you Tuesday!
Karen :)
