It was a beautiful day for softball, and despite the one P.Tiger batter who put us all to sleep and Jeff Cornish who caught everything, it was a good game. The P.Tigers led for most of the game, mercying us in the top of the 6th inning... to which we answered with ten runs of our own to tie it up. Who let me call that the last inning???? Okay, it was getting dark and dinner was becoming a more urgent need with every stretch of the shadows. Both sides were happy with a tied game.

Almost everyone got at least one hit, a home run was hit by Ron, and triples by Brendan and Joe. RBIs were knocked in by Kenny, Andy (2), Ann (2), Jeff (3), Ron (3), Joe, Mikael (2), Dave, Jes, and Marc. A notable offensive move came from Kenny who lead off halfway home, then ran back to tag third base after the fly ball was caught and flew home from there. Defensive dazzlers were made by Jenny and Jes who both started double plays at second base, and many outstanding catches were made in the outfield. Kudos to Marc who caught a whole buncha stuff that most ordinary first basemen would have missed. We need to learn to field and make force outs
like they did -- they were getting us everywhere, including a runner coming into home.

The hit list:
1 KarenC 1B, Kenny 1B, Andy 2B, Ann out, Jeff out, Ron 1B,
Jenny 2B, JohnK out

The "Livin' Up to The Name" award goes to Jes who took a nasty tumble at first base (but getting an RBI in the process) in the 6th inning, inspiring our 10-run comeback. Good thing we have nurses on our team! The "Good Grief, What's With That Guy?" award goes to Paper Tiger Travis, for standing at the plate in each at bat and looking at 'WAY more pitches than a guy in a knee brace, eyeblack and batting helmet should. The "You Need Retraining, Ms. Manager" award goes to Jennifer, this evening's manager at Souplantation, who let some other group take the tables that had been set up for us and refused to rectify the situation. And finally, the "She's So Sweet" award goes to our waitress Sayuri for going the extra mile to compensate for her idiot manager. If anyone wants a comment card to let Souplantation Corp. know of our experience, let me know -- I have extras.

Our next game is TUESDAY July 27 against The O Zone on field H2. We'll be missing Shaunna, Renaud, Andrew(?), the Reddings, and Jes. EVERYONE please be sure I know whether or not you're coming so I know if I need to call up reserve personnel or not!

With any luck, I'll have the schedule for our August games before our next game, or very shortly thereafter.

See ya Tuesday,

Karen
