ICANTBELIEVEWELETABUNCHOFDRUNKPEOPLKEMERCYUS!!!!!! Sigh. At least we scored enough to end the game (which actually looked pretty good until the bottom of the fifth inning) out of mercy. With any luck, by next season Lucky will have learned to hit, and the Encumbers will have learned both the rules of the game (i.e. no, you can't have one woman pinch-hit for another woman AND still have her normal at-bat, among others) and how to set up the field by themselves.

Defensive highlights were many -- Bryan made a great heads up tag of the Encumber baserunner who fell off second base in the first inning. Nancy fielded a bunch of balls to the various first basemen to get outs, Eric and ScottM made some great catches (and at least one really spectacular attempt) in the outfield, Don and ScottE caught line drives at third base, and Nancy caught one at pitcher. Don also made a really good throw to Andy to get a dawdling ET runner. ScottM(LF) made an awesome throw to Andy(1B) to double up the ET runner who failed to get back to first base.

Offensive highlights include a home run by EricW and RBIs by ScottM, Don, Linda, Bryan, KarenT, Eric (4), JohnD and Amy. Ron was robbed by a lucky sliding rolling "hey look, my foot ended up on second base!" catch by the Encumber shortstop for a force out, who also made an amazing catch of Bryan's line drive in the sixth inning. EricW gets the VH1 award for his uncanny (albeit growl free) Anders imitation running home on KarenT's heels during his home run.

Next game is Wednesday July 31 against the Gravity Fielders on field H3 (might be H5 again, I'll let you know in the game reminder). Please be sure to tell me whether or not you'll be there.
