It was a beautiful day, and unfortunately we got our butts kicked. After having beaten the Eccentrics twice before, they brought out their ringers and brushed up on their offensive and defensive interference skills (man, that old guy was dangerous!) to clobber us pretty good, despite the fact that they proved to be somewhat math-challenged in the third inning and one of their base coaches tended to do his job with both hands in his pockets leaving his runners to ask him "what do I do?". We were almost shorthanded, so everyone who did show up played the entire game -- we really missed you guys who didn't show up!!!

Defensively, the Bruisers did have some shining moments, like Scott's running catch in left field, Jeff's snag at first, and KarenC's over the shoulder "oh no" catch at third. The most notable play has to be the awesome double play between Jeff at first and Andy at home plate in the third inning after the EEs announced that no, the mercy rule was not actually in effect. Offensively, everyone got at least one hit, and our only home run was hit by JohnD. RBIs were knocked in by Scott, KarenT (2), Andy (2), Kathy, Jeff (2), and JohnD (3), and we managed to pull out of the double mercy in the last inning. The "What Game Are We Playing?" award goes to KarenT who first bowled the ball back in from short in the second inning, and then tackled the catcher in the seventh inning to score a run.

Our next game is next Thursday July August 3 on field H2 against Squeeze Play and we will be the home team. So far, I know we'll be missing Andrew, Dave, Mary Beth, Jes, KarenT, Jeff, and Kathy. Everyone else be sure I know if you're coming or not.

Remember, I don't ask for much... mainly that you tell me whether or not you're coming (either way, yes or no) and if you tell me you're coming, show up. If you said you were coming and something happens, please let me know ASAP. This is especially important now that it's summertime and a lot of people are going to be vacationing. I need to make sure that we're able to field a full team for each game and it's hard to do that if people flake. Only five more games left in the season!

See you next week!
Karen :)
