The meltdown fairy definitely found us this week, sending the white egret of victory to poop on us after we first flirted with mercy, and then tied the Crawdads. The Crawdads refused to be boiled, however, taking back the lead in the last inning. It took a really long time to play those four innings. Notes were a bit scarce - a byproduct of having nobody sitting in the dugout while we're in the field -- so we give our thanks to Nagin for writing things down as we shouted them to her from the field after she arrived. :) We'll all be really happy when everyone starts coming to the games again!
Crawdad outs came thusly: In the first inning, Nancy(P) picked up a soft grounder and fed it to Ron(1B), then Jeff(SS) caught a soft line drive, and then Nancy(P) got another grounder to Ron(1B). In the second, Randy(CF) made catches of two high fly balls, then KarenC(3B) made an unassisted out, stepping on third base to force the runner (I really wanted to tag her!). In the third, Jeff(SS) threw to Ron(1B) to beat a runner, then Ron(1B) threw to Jeff(SS) to force a runner, and then KarenC(3B) managed to wing one 'wayyyy over to Ron(1B) in time to get that runner. In the fourth inning, Nancy(P) got a grounder to Ron(1B), Ron(1B) fielded a hard grounder and stepped on first base for an unassisted out, and then Ann(2B) caught a line drive.
Defensively, we had no home runs, but did get triples from Eric (2) and Ann, and a tree double by Ann. Ann thanks Nancy for doing all of her running, esp. that triple. RBIs were earned by Randy, Jeff (3), Liza, Ron, Eric (2), Nancy, Ann, and Earl.
Our next game is TUESDAY August 3. We'll be the visiting team against the Wild Turkeys, so we won't have Jose or Gerardo. Hopefully we'll have our triathloners back. Everyone please be sure I know if you're coming or not.
