One pitch (by Nancy), one hit (by TOAD Bobak), one big ugly bruise (on Nancy's thigh).  We knew it would be a tough (but fun) game with the TOADS, but this was kinda ridiculous.  Despite being knocked out of the first inning by Bobak's hit, Nancy showed her toughness and came back in to pitch in the second and fourth innings.  She also walked into work the next morning - her bruise is coloring up quite nicely.  Despite the scary moments when Nancy got hit, it was a fun game, and we were happy to score in at least one inning, and not end the game in mercy.

Defensively, while it looks like we sucked, we didn't do so terribly.  In the first inning, Randy(RF) made a great catch at the treeline, Jose(SS) caught a tall infield fly ball, then Gerardo(LF) made a nice outfield catch.  The second inning was all Gerardo(LF), as he made all three outs.  In the third inning, Ann(2B) fielded a ball and fed it to Jose(SS) for an out, then we were mercied, and then Randy(RF) made another great right field catch.  In the fourth, we started with a mercy out, then Gerardo(LF) made a great running twisty catch, and then Randy(RF) caught another fly ball.  In the fifth inning, Simon(3B) made a terrific catch in foul territory, then he tagged a runner going to third, and then Gerardo(LF) made a very casual "makes it look easy" catch for the last TOAD out.

Offensively, we were scoreless for four out of the five innings, batting almost all the way around (minus one) in the eight inning.  Almost everyone got at least one hit.  Rob was robbed of a hit by an amazing catch by the rookie pitcher of his line drive.  We had no home runs, triples, or tree doubles.  Kudos have to be given to TOAD Brent for his diving catch of Jes' hit to double off Jose at first.  RBIs were earned by Randy, Jose, Gerardo (2), Nancy, EricB, and Simon (2).

Our next game is Monday, August 3.  We'll have a rematch game with the Goat Scouts on HN (dirt).  I know we'll be missing EricG, Earl and Jeff.  Everyone else please be sure I know if you're coming or not.
