Okay, so the OAL/UTA Hackers probably think we're a bunch of rule book-following stuffed shirts... if only they really knew! Haha. Things looked pretty good at the outset of the game, and we actually did hold our own for just over half the game. Our opponents, however, did very well exercising our outfielders and cutting down our runners. We benefitted much from a sometimes butter-fingery Hacker first baseman and as much confusion as we could generate along the base paths. :)
Defensively, we had some pretty good stuff (okay, some kinda ugly stuff too, but we won't dwell on that) including catches by Scott in left field, a good stop by KarenT at short field, a great wakeup grab by Marc at first, and a very nice play between Nancy and Marc to get a runner. Infielder of the Day award goes to MikeG who made all the outs, two line drive catches and a throw back to Marc, in the second inning, holding the Hackers to zero runs. Offensively, we did pretty good in the innings where we got more than one hit, singling and doubling in most of our runs. Everyone got at least one hit, we had no home runs, and RBIs were knocked in by KarenC (3), DaveS, KarenT (2), Andrew (2), Marc, Amy, MikeG, Earl (2), Nancy, and Renaud. Offensive highlights include Renaud doing his KarenT imitation and running down their catcher to score a run. Thanks again to Scott for looking out for the details.
Next game: next week Thursday August 17 against the Deep Space Cadets (first of two in a row) on field H2; we'll be the home team. We'll be missing KarenT, Andrew and Mikael. Everyone else please be sure I know whether to expect you or not.
