We almost had them!!! It was a cool breezy afternoon, and a beautiful day to play softball. It was also another game that looked like it could turn ugly, considering the Bruisers only scored in two innings, worrying the Wild Turkeys in the top of the sixth inning when we not only caught up, but passed them. Alas, defense didn't hold out as well as we wanted, and they ended up winning. But it was a really good game.

Defensive dazzlers include two amazing catches by Shonte in right field, a good snag by Jenny at second in the 3rd inning, a "please don't run me over" out by KarenC at third to Jenny at second base in the 4th inning, an awesome Steve-Anders double play in the 5th inning, and Scott catching about half of the rest of the outs. Offensively, just about everyone got at least one hit. We got home runs by Scott and Tony, triples by Andy and Steve, and some creative base-running thing by Andrew where he ran to first, part way to second, the rest of the way to second, then back to first, and then to second again when the throw to the first baseman got away -- that went into the scorebook as a double. RBIs were hit in by Scott, Brendan, Anders, Tony (4), Shonte, Steve, Jenny (2), Mike, and Nancy (2). Remember, folks, whatever happens, when you hit the ball RUN all the way to first no matter what happens!

Next game is Thursday August 18 on field H2 (the middle one by the water fountain) against the Gravity Fielders. We'll be the home team. I know we'll be missing KarenT, Jes and JohnK, but I think Renaud will be back. Everyone please be sure I know if you'll be at the game or not.

See you next week!

Karen :)
